How Long Does a Merv 15 Filter Last?

The boiler owner's manual will specify the best MERV rating for your furnace and, in general, filters with a MERV rating of 6 to 9 should be changed every 90 days, while those with a MERV rating of 10 to 12 should be changed every 60 days. The types of filters are determined by their MERV classification. A MERV rating, a minimum efficiency report value, measures filtration effectiveness. The higher the MERV ratings, the more effective the filter is at preventing air particles from passing through it. We offer MERV 8, 10, 11 and 16 filters for sale in our office and we can also place special orders for unique sizes.

The MERV rating also generally determines how often the oven filter must be changed. You must have a clean filter, MERV 8 filters should be changed every 3 or 4 months, MERV 10 & 11 filters every 6 months, and it's a good idea to change MERV 16 filters every year. You should also remember to replace the filter every month, three months, six months, or year, depending on the filter. If you don't change the filter according to its recommendations, it collects dirt and dust, making it more restrictive and less effective at filtering. If you have any questions about your specific home, don't hesitate to ask a Home Aire Care professional.

In general, most air filter manufacturers and HVAC companies recommend changing the air filter every 90 days or 3 months. This may change depending on the location of your home (e.g., dusty and dry weather), if you have pets, and the age of your system and equipment. If you have pets at home, you should consider changing the filter every 60 days or 2 months, and in the case of households with several pets or people with allergies or respiratory conditions, we recommend that you change the filter every 20 to 45 days. Usually, vacation homes or empty houses that aren't used much can wait to change filters every 9 to 12 months.

The general consensus is that the more you use your home, the more you'll need to change your air filter. A 1-inch filter is the thinnest, as you'll normally find 1-, 2-, 4- and 5-inch filters available on the market. We recommend that you do a quick visual check of the filter every 3 to 4 weeks if you are not sure how often to replace your oven filter. As the seasons change, pollen and other seasonal particles can quickly clog a disposable filter, even if it's a four-inch filter. Filters with higher MERV values trap small particles more effectively than filters with lower MERV scores. I don't want to put a factory replacement filter with less MERV for winter, more for summer and still put too much air load on the fan.

Air filters usually have a MERV (minimum efficiency report value) that determines the type and size of contaminants against which the filter will operate.

MERV 17

to MERV 20 filters are commonly used in surgical operating rooms, clean rooms and other settings that require absolute cleaning. There are many common filter sizes, so be sure to get an exact measurement of the type of oven filter. It is important to note that there are high-efficiency filters that are designed to filter out small bacterial, moldy and fungal particles, but standard MERV 8-11 filters only block the largest particles of dust, dirt to 26% of hair. While the air filter is designed to control the amount of unwanted air particles entering your home, the MERV rating on your filter is intended to show you which filter is best suited for your home. When it comes to choosing an air filter for your home or business, it's important to understand how long each type of air filter will last before needing replacement.

Knowing how long each type of air filter will last can help you make an informed decision about which type of air filter is best for your needs. The lifespan of an air filter depends on several factors such as its size and MERV rating. Generally speaking, smaller filters with lower MERV ratings need to be replaced more often than larger filters with higher MERV ratings. For example, a 1-inch MERV 8 air filter should be replaced every 3-4 months while a 5-inch MERV 16 air filter should be replaced once per year. In addition to size and MERV rating, other factors such as location (e.g., dusty and dry weather), pet ownership and age of system can also affect how often an air filter needs replacing. For example, if you live in an area with high levels of dust or pollen or if you have pets at home then you may need to replace your air filter more frequently than someone who lives in an area with low levels of dust or pollen or who does not have any pets at home. Finally, it's important to remember that regardless of size or MERV rating all air filters need replacing eventually so it's important to check them regularly and replace them when necessary.
